Guest guest
Strum, I just had the fusion you are scheduled for in Sept. I also work in EMS and that is how I hurt my back. The advice I have for you is after surgery is to try and walk as much as you can. I am walking over 2 miles a day on local track. Before surgery I could not make it thriugh the grocery store. The first couple weeks are tough but it does get better. Chris > > Hi there, I am new to the site, I actually go by Strum - since even > before the internet was born. I'm 46 and my Daughter who is now 22 is also an EMS worker. I warn her about her back all the time. >My reason for coming to this board was to offer any support that I >might have for others with similar problems as well as to try to >connect with some others who have had this procedure. If you go to our groups home page, there will be a section on members stories. There you'll find my 25 year history of back surgeries. It save's me from rewriting it, and boring the older members with it, each time someone new joins. I've had successful lumbar fusions, and not so successful, and a failed cervical fusion. That's not quite true, the fusion could be 100% perfect, but I'm still in mucho pain. Been unable to work since 2005, and won my SSDI case in May of this year. Welcome to the group, sounds like you can offer a lot, and we can do the same for you both pre and post-op. Dave in Reading, PA
