Guest guest
This past weekend, I presented at a conference in N California. One of the other presentors was Bero, PhD, who is Professor in the Department of Clinical Pharmacy at the School of Pharmacy and Institute for Health Policy Studies, School of Medicine, University of California, San Francisco. She is also the Co-Director of the San Francisco Cochrane Center, member of the Steering Group of The Cochrane Collaboration, and editor for the Cochrane Effective Practice and Organization of Care Group -- an international group of researchers conducting meta-analyses of the literature on interventions to change health professional behavior. This was the first time I met her and saw her present and was really impressed. She gave 2 presentations on the Marketing of Medicine and how drug companies and researches influence and bias medical research and also on how we the consumer can better understand and interpret all the research that comes out on health/medicine. They were fascinating presentations and she revealed a side of research we usually do not hear about on which she regularly publishes. It was more than eye-opening. I found an earlier version of her presentation on line at YouTube which you can view here... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KHHC5AYAUVI http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6AjwPZuivBY http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=it5yyn_lIKg You will never look at research the same again.
