Guest guest
I am considering having the same type DNA test (by a company called Decode me " or something like that. ) Do you think it was worth the expense? Are you going to be able to benefit from the information? Were the results simple enough to understand? > > I recently had my DNA tested for health, traits and ancestry. The results show my risk for about 100 diseases, and traits, as well as ancestry. I used a company called 23andme. The results were worrisome and very interesting. I was curious if anyone else in the C.R.O.N. community has tried.... >
Guest guest
I am considering having the same type DNA test (by a company called Decode me " or something like that. ) Do you think it was worth the expense? Are you going to be able to benefit from the information? Were the results simple enough to understand? I felt it was worth the expense. I think being able to see your genome, and having them interpreted is highly valuable. I think it's truly the beginning of humans getting to fully understand ourselves, and our history on this planet. I think I will benefit from this information. It seems I am at a much higher risk for a few autoimmune diseases like age related macular degeneration, psoriasis, and crohns. There are several things I can do to prevent, or hold off these diseases. There are a few other issues I only have a slightly higher risk for like hypertension and heart attack. Those are some of the worrisome things about the analysis. But I believe knowledge is power. The interesting things are that I have the share the same genes of centenarian, which means I have higher odds of living to 100. I also share the genes of people who have higher IQ's and better episodic memories. I contemplate myself in my 80's and 90's alone, sick, blind, and keenly aware of it all. Que sera, sera. Everything is explained and referenced. If you can afford it, you are health conscious, I would recommend it.
