Guest guest
Yes, I especially enjoyed: "There are books called Maximum Life Span and The 120 Year Diet and a stated aim of many adherents is to achieve “actuarial escape velocityâ€, which is not, despite the sound of it, the speed at which an insurance clerk flees a burning building, but a description of that moment in the acceleration of biomedical progress when, for every year you live, technology adds another year to your maximum life expectancy and, in theory, you are in with a chance of living for ever." http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/life_and_style/food_and_drink/eating_out/giles_coren/article7001699.ece?print=yes & randnum=1264889193765http://tinyurl.com/ydw8gya http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/life_and_style/food_and_drink/eating_out/giles_coren/article7001699.ece#tophttp://tinyurl.com/yer5dun-- Aalt Pater From: huw foster <huwfoster@...>Subject: [ ] Times article Received: Saturday, January 30, 2010, 6:02 AM Hmm. Guest guest
Hi Huw: I am more than happy to be considered whacky, given the benefits. Odd isn't it that people who make an effort to preserve their health by implementing in their own lives the information leading edge science is yielding, should be considered ripe as a target for 'ridicule'. Even though this article, I thought, was more moderate than most. And I certainly found it to be 'entertaining'. IMO it says more about those writing the articles - or probably more accurately their editors - than it does about people on CR. Rodney. > > Hmm.
