Guest guest
Want thimerosal-free? Move to Europe. They have more than they need. Apparently, the CDC can only find thimerosal-containing flu vaccine. Another CA Mercury flu shot story -- A-CHAMP, JB quoted Doctors: Mercury Flu Shot Ban BackfiringBy Sandy Kleffman, Medianews.http://www.insidebayarea.com/ci_4590171Concerned about a lack of flu vaccine for young children, fourleading medical groups have asked California to temporarily waive itsnew mercury-free requirement. This year marks the first flu season that the state has banned amercury-based preservative known as thimerosal from vaccines given topregnant women and children younger than 3.But pediatricians say they cannot get enough of thethimerosal-free version, leaving few options for protecting youngchildren as the flu season approaches."We don't want an epidemic of flu that would be dangerous to ourkids and kill kids," said Dr. Myles Abbott, an Orinda pediatrician whochairs the state branch of the American Academy of Pediatrics. The academy joined Kaiser, the California Medical Associationand the California Academy of Family Physicians in sending a letter tothe state health secretary last week seeking the temporary waiver."We just feel that our patients now are in jeopardy," Abbott said. The move, prompted by a delay in vaccine production, has upsetsome groups that fought for the thimerosal ban because they believethe preservative could have serious health effects."What is happening here in America where we can't supply ourinfants and children with mercury-free vaccines?" asked BobbieManning, a board member of A-CHAMP or Advocates for Children's HealthAffected by Mercury Poisoning.Manning noted that the thimerosal ban passed in 2004 but did nottake effect until this year, giving people time to gear up for the change."The governor needs to ask some very hard questions as to whythis exemption is necessary when we have had a long time to preparefor this," she said. The state health department is reviewing the waiver request, said spokesman Mike Bowman.Thimerosal, a compound that is 49.6 percent mercury by weight, has been used as a preservative in some vaccines and otherpharmaceutical products since the 1930s. Its purpose is to preventfungal and bacterial contamination in multidose vials. In 1999, as a precautionary measure, the American Academy ofPediatrics and the U.S. Public Health Service urged drug companies tovoluntarily remove thimerosal from children's vaccines. The request came after the Food and Drug Administrationconcluded that children who receive the full set of recommendedimmunizations could accumulate doses of mercury exceedingEnvironmental Protection Agency guidelines.Today, most childhood vaccines contain only trace amounts of thepreservative. The one exception is the flu shot, which is availablewith and without thimerosal.Sanofi pasteur is the only company that produces thimerosal-freeflu vaccine for young children in the United States. One of the viral strains in its child and adult flu vaccine grewpoorly this year, slowing production.Typically the firm would begin shipping vaccine during the firstweek in August, but this year's first shipment went out Aug. 23, saidspokeswoman Patty Tomsky. As a result, many doctors' offices and flu clinics across thenation have received only partial orders of adult and children's vaccine. The company expects to have fill all of its orders by the end ofNovember, Tomsky said.A recent survey of more than 200 California pediatriciansrevealed that most have not received their full allotment of thethimerosal-free vaccine and have had to turn children away withoutshots, Abbott said.More than 70 percent of the pediatricians said that if thewaiver is approved, they have thimerosal-containing children's vaccineavailable.Dr. Randy Bergen, chief of pediatrics at Kaiser in Walnut Creek, supports the waiver request. He argues that it could be dangerous towait until the thimerosal-free version arrives. The situation is especially urgent for young children becausethey need two flu shots, one month apart, the first time they areimmunized for the disease, Bergen added."The problem is that it's always uncertain when the flu seasonwill hit," he said. "This is a real public health emergency, in myopinion."While some years the flu season does not arrive until January, three years ago it peaked in late November. Last year, it peaked inlate December.California and eight other states now report sporadic fluactivity. Two states - Hawaii and Louisiana - have local outbreaks, while the remainder of states have no flu activity.Pediatricians Abbott and Bergen say they would prefer to givethimerosal-free shots, but if those are not available, shots withthimerosal are better than none at all. They argue that the flu is aproven risk, while scientific studies have not proven harm fromthimerosal. Many parents of autistic children disagree; they blame thepreservative for their children's disorder.J.B. Handley, a former Lafayette resident and the father of anautistic child, said if state officials plan to temporarily lift thethimerosal ban, they should make sure doctors inform parents."I would rather that my child had the flu than be injected witha neurotoxin," Handley said. "They're putting parents in a position ofhaving to make this horrible decision."Each year in the United States, 36,000 people die fromflu-related complications and 200,000 are hospitalized. Small childrenand the elderly are at greatest risk.
Guest guest
To All, I find this article especially disturbing because two recent publications have established that the current flu vaccines are NOT effective in preventing those inoculated from getting influenza! The articles are: 1. A. Geier, G. King, and Mark R. Geier. Influenza Vaccine: Review of Effectiveness of the U.S. Immunization Program, and Policy Considerations. JAP & S (Journal of American Physicians and Surgeons) 2006 Fall; 11(3): 69-74. 2. Tom Jefferson. Influenza vaccination: policy versus evidence. BMJ (British Medical Journal) 2006 October 28; 333: 912-915. In the Geier et al. paper, contrary to the " 36,000 " deaths estimate in this article, the government's data (from 1987 to 2000) showed from about 604 to about 3006 deaths per year from " flu " with only about 19,000 to 44,000 hospitalizations (see Table 1 in Ref. 1) with only 9 - 31 " flu " deaths in the U.S. from 1979 - 2001 in children 4 years of age and under (see Table 2 in Reference 1). To put the children's deaths in perspective, no more than 31 flu deaths in a population of about 16.5 million children age 4 and under translates into a mortality rate of less than 0.2 deaths per hundred thousand children. Moreover, the government and the vaccine makers are supposed to have PROVEN the safety of Thimeorsal in the " flu " vaccines BUT they have FAILED TO PROVE not only that the maximum level present in the " flu " vaccine is SAFE but also that ANY level of Thimerosal is SAFE! Given the facts (vaccine proven ineffective and NO PROOF Thimerosal-preserved vaccine is SAFE, there is no legal or scientific justification for the requested waiver. Hopefully, all residents of California will realize the " flu " vaccines are NOT effective and that the " Thimerosal Preserved " influenza vaccines have NOT been proven SAFE. IF parents and guardians realize that these vaccines are: 1. NOT EFFECTIVE and 2. HAVE NOT BEEN PROVEN TO BE SAFE (as required by law [21 CFR 610.15(a), THEN: a. They will think twice before letting their children be given these less than effective vaccines, and b. Demand that their pediatricians agree in writing to accept full personal responsibility and liability for any harm related to the " flu " vaccine their children receive including any mercury poisoning by the 12.5 micrograms of mercury (when they get 1 Thimerosal- preserved shot) or 25 micrograms (when they get 2 such shots). ******************************************** * This email ONLY provides INFORMATION, it * * does NOT compel any course of acton NOR * * does it provide medical advice. * * This email is being provided ONLY for * * your review and consideration. * ******************************************** Respectfully, Dr. King http://www.dr-king.com +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ At 03:29 11/3/06 -0000, schaferatsprynet wrote: > > > >Doctors: Mercury Flu Shot Ban Backfiring > >By Sandy Kleffman, Medianews. >http://www.insidebayarea.com/ci_4590171 > > Concerned about a lack of flu vaccine for >young children, four leading medical groups >have asked California to temporarily waive >its new mercury-free requirement. > This year marks the first flu season that >the state has banned a mercury-based >preservative known as thimerosal from vaccines >given to pregnant women and children younger >than 3. > But pediatricians say they cannot get >enough of the thimerosal-free version, >leaving few options for protecting young >children as the flu season approaches. > " We don't want an epidemic of flu that >would be dangerous to our kids and kill >kids, " said Dr. Myles Abbott, an Orinda >pediatrician who chairs the state branch >of the American Academy of Pediatrics. > The academy joined Kaiser, the >California Medical Association and the >California Academy of Family Physicians >in sending a letter to the state health >secretary last week seeking the temporary >waiver. > " We just feel that our patients now are > in jeopardy, " Abbott said. > The move, prompted by a delay in vaccine >production, has upset some groups that >fought for the thimerosal ban because they >believe the preservative could have serious >health effects. > " What is happening here in America where >we can't supply our infants and children >with mercury-free vaccines? Guest guest
Truth has become fiction; fiction truth. Attempts to tell the truth are met with derision, contempt. The collective thought process is gone. Is it intentional or simply a reflection of a system of untruths and a reality we have created? Do these people know what they do or have they become so incapable of reason that they know not what they do? I can't tell anymore. Has our political process, have our institutions and our entire reality become so corrupted that noone will tell the truth because noone can/will accept the truth? Certainly no one listens to the truth. If you think the thimerosal issue is Orwellian, you should see what the financial analysts and blogs are writing about the present economic situation, the reality of unemployment/employment data, the GDP numbers, the collapsing real estate market and the impending meltdown in the value of the dollar. None of this is good, even as all of the mainstream media touts all the smiley face rhetoric about the economy and the lowering unemployment rate, etc. We are headed into deepshit territory- virtually all of it bad, none of it to be discussed intelligently. At this time, we appear to be at the tail end of an empire which is incapable of providing an identifiable measure of truth or reality. This disconnect is symptomatic of much, much deeper problems in our society. It's called the Emperor's New Clothes for a reason. Guest guest
Your ? ://Do these people know what they do or have they become so incapable of reason that they know not what they do?// Is there a chance - in- a - million that a disproportionately large # of policy makers are themselves mercury poisoned? Every time I hear one of them say something lately they sound like they are smoking loco weed. No rational thoughts. That's my perception . Maybe I'm the exception (?) Do they make sense to others (?) Jack --------- Re: Another CA Mercury flu shot story -- A-CHAMP, JB quoted To All,I find this article especially disturbing because two recent publications have established that the current flu vaccines are NOT effective in preventing those inoculated from getting influenza! The articles are:1. A. Geier, G. King, andMark R. Geier. Influenza Vaccine:Review of Effectiveness of theU.S. Immunization Program, andPolicy Considerations. JAP & S (Journalof American Physicians and Surgeons)2006 Fall; 11(3): 69-74.2. Tom Jefferson. Influenza vaccination: policy versus evidence. BMJ (British Medical Journal) 2006 October 28; 333: 912-915. In the Geier et al. paper, contrary to the "36,000" deaths estimate in this article, the government's data (from 1987 to 2000)showed from about 604 to about 3006 deaths per year from "flu" with only about 19,000to 44,000 hospitalizations (see Table 1 in Ref. 1) with only 9 - 31 "flu" deaths in the U ..S. from 1979 - 2001 in children 4 years of age and under (see Table 2 in Reference 1).To put the children's deaths in perspective,no more than 31 flu deaths in a population of about 16.5 million children age 4 and under translates into a mortality rate of less than0.2 deaths per hundred thousand children. Moreover, the government and the vaccine makers are supposed to have PROVEN the safety of Thimeorsal in the "flu" vaccines BUT they have FAILED TO PROVE not only that the maximum level present in the "flu" vaccine is SAFE but also that ANY level ofThimerosal is SAFE!Given the facts (vaccine proven ineffectiveand NO PROOF Thimerosal-preserved vaccine is SAFE, there is no legal or scientific justification for the requested waiver.Hopefully, all residents of California willrealize the "flu" vaccines are NOT effectiveand that the "Thimerosal Preserved" influenzavaccines have N OT been proven SAFE.IF parents and guardians realize that these vaccines are:1. NOT EFFECTIVE and2. HAVE NOT BEEN PROVEN TO BE SAFE (asrequired by law [21 CFR 610.15(a),THEN:a. They will think twice before lettingtheir children be given these less thaneffective vaccines, andb. Demand that their pediatricians agreein writing to accept full personal responsibility and liability for any harm related to the "flu" vaccine theirchildren receive including any mercury poisoning by the 12.5 micrograms of mercury (when they get 1 Thimerosal-preserved shot) or 25 micrograms (when they get 2 such shots).********************************************* This email ONLY provides INFORMATION, it ** does NOT compel any course of acton NOR * * does it provide medical advice. ** This email is being provided ONLY for * * your review and consideration. ******* ************************************** Respectfully,Dr. Kinghttp://www.dr-king.com+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ At 03:29 11/3/06 -0000, schaferatsprynet wrote:>> > >Doctors: Mercury Flu Shot Ban Backfiring>>By Sandy Kleffman, Medianews.>http://www.insidebayarea.com/ci_4590171>> Concerned about a lack of flu vaccine for >young children, four leading medical groups >have asked California to temporarily waive >its new mercury-free requirement.> This year marks the first flu season that >the state has banned a mercury-based >preservative known as thimerosal from vaccines >given to pregnant women and children younger >than 3.> But pediatricians say they cannot get gt;enough of the thimerosal-free version, >leaving few options for protecting young>children as the flu season approaches.> "We don't want an epidemic of flu that >would be dangerous to our kids and kill >kids," said Dr. Myles Abbott, an Orinda >pediatrician who chairs the state branch >of the American Academy of Pediatrics.> The academy joined Kaiser, the >California Medical Association and the >California Academy of Family Physicians >in sending a letter to the state health >secretary last week seeking the temporary >waiver.> "We just feel that our patients now are> in jeopardy," Abbott said.> The move, prompted by a delay in vaccine >production, has upset some groups that >fought for the thimerosal ban because they >believe the preservative could have serious >health effects.> "What is happening here in America where >we can't supply our infants and children >with mercury-free vaccines?" asked Bobbie>Manning, a board member of A-CHAMP or >Advocates for Children's Health Affected >by Mercury Poisoning.> Manning noted that the thimerosal ban >passed in 2004 but did not take effect until>this year, giving people time to gear up for>the change.> "The governor needs to ask some very hard >questions as to why this exemption is >necessary when we have had a long time to >prepare for this," she said.> The state health department is reviewing >the waiver request, said spokesman Mike >Bowman.> Thimerosal, a compound that is 49.6 percent >mercury by weight, has been used as a >preservative in some vaccines and other>pharmaceutical products since the 1930s. < Its purpose is to prevent fungal and >bacterial contamination in multidose vials.> In 1999, as a precaution ary measure, the >American Academy of Pediatrics and the U.S. >Public Health Service urged drug companies >to voluntarily remove thimerosal from>children's vaccines.> The request came after the Food and Drug >Administration concluded that children who >receive the full set of recommended>immunizations could accumulate doses of >mercury exceeding Environmental Protection >Agency guidelines.> Today, most childhood vaccines contain only >trace amounts of the preservative.
