Today's Washington Post (Health Section, page F6) has an article on the

above subject but for some reason it's not in the on-line paper.

To summarize: experts are divided on this. Some say that it encourages

binging and overeating after the fast is over. Other researchers point to

studies that show it has the benefits of full calorie restriction. Although

the evidence is scanty (according to this article) the little evidence that

exists is favorable. Going without food occasionally seems to make the body

more sensitive to insulin and mimics CR.
