Guest guest
Hi Tony Perhaps I should call myself a strict vegetarian, rather than a vegan, as I am aproaching this from the health standpoint. Yes, I am food tracking with a Calorie King program.I will take a look at the Cronometer to see if that works better. Using the CK on my palm Trio keeps me accountable immediately at the meal, and records exercise as well. At 1200 calories, I am currently loosing 3-4 lbs a month, after an initial drop. It may well do better to increase my intake a little as winter comes on. You are correct that it is not good to loose weight to fast, hence taking over a year to reach my goal. I do add a tablespoon or 2 a day of black walnuts or ground flax for the Omegas, and eat large amounts of kale, collards and calcium rich greens, plus many kinds of self-harvested sea vegetables. Grains play the lesser part of the diet, being far less nutrient dense per calorie than the multi-colored vegetables. Toni do know know where to reference your statement that it is easier for vegetarians to get vitamin deficiencies. Through ignorance, perhaps at first, young teens trying out the "vegan" lifestyle without knowledge will not eat an nutritionally balanced diet.. In my experience, most vegetarians who stick with it research , and learn a great deal a about cooking, and health. And as with Cronies, they are much more aware what they put into their bodies that most SAD Americans. Carol
