Guest guest
Welcome Carol, Congratulations on having gone from being obese to normal weight! It takes a lot of determination to do so. My first comment is about your current calorie intake of 1200 calories. I think that it is too low. 1200 calories is about 41% CR which is quite severe. Now that your weight is in the normal range, you should probably eat about 1600 to 1700 calories which corresponds to about 22% to 17% CR for your level of activity. It is not good to lose weight too fast. You have already lost 37 pounds this year. My second comment is about your diet. You do not mention that you are tracking your nutrients. There have been many cases of eager dieters who ended up with osteoporosis because they were not practicing optimum nutrition. You cannot just guess. When you are on a low calorie diet, you have to actually measure what you eat to make sure that you are getting 100% of all the required nutrients. You can use CRON-o-Meter, a free program that lets you keep a food diary and displays the percentages of your daily nutritional intakes. This is specially important for you because it is easier to get vitamin deficiencies with vegetarian diets. Your comment that you are a " no-fat added vegan " is also worrysome because omega-6 and omega-3 fats are required nutrients. I highly recommend that you use CRON-o-Meter to avoid harming yourself with an inadequate diet.
