Guest guest
I was on CR for a few years back in the 80's, then quit, and started again in 2001. I recently had my annual checkup, and when filing away a copy of my lab tests I happened to run across an old lab test from 1985. The differences in cholesterol were interesting. Back in the 1980's, I recall trying to eat as " low fat " as possible, without much concern for the quality of the fat. Currently, I try to make sure my fat intake is substantially the " good type " of fat. Nor was I concerned back then about trying to raise the " good cholesterol " . So even though my total cholesterol is nearly 50% higher in 2009 than it was in 1983, I assume it is probably (hopefully?) healthier now. Total Cholesterol 1985: 94 2009: 140 HDL 1985: 33 2009: 62 LDL 1985: 51 2009: 73 Triglyceride 1985: 50 2009: 31 Cholesterol/HDL Ratio 1985: 2.8 2009: 2.3 Bruce Long
