This won't make it more palatable but garlic seems more effective (to me) if you slice it up into small pieces rather swallowing a whole clove, and waiting for your body to break it down. I find it easier to swallow the small pieces with some juice so it doesn't stick in my throat. Good Luck.. JROn May 7, 2009, at 8:09 AM, Arturo Veve wrote:Re: hello from Arturo/mercuryPosted by: "Francesca Skelton" fskeltonerols fskelton2002Tue May 5, 2009 5:28 pm (PDT)Thanks, Franchesca and for your comments. I did eventually find a clinic and theytook blood and urine samples and will let me know in a few weeks if my exposure wasabove the limit. I have realized now that in the 60s there were such toys and kidswere exposed to mercury that way. I may have inhaled as well as swallowed some ofit. Today, 48 hours after exposure, it seems that my body has detoxified from itwith the consumption of a lot of fiber. Somehow, I have to muster courage (ha!)to go for a garlic clove. I know they are beneficial - I use them in my vegetablepottage, but swallowing a whole clove doesn't enthuse me. Cheers,Arturo

Or slice up and and scatter into a salad. You’ll barely notice it. In fact it will give the salad a nice “kick”.

While this is purely anecdotal one rat stuff,, I believe I have experienced some benefit from taking raw garlic to knock down mild colds or respiratory infections. Garlic is reported to be medicinally useful, in DIY folk medicine. I consider it a pretty harmless self medication, when you feel like doing something.  It is also supposed to chelate heavy metals from our body??  magic stuff... I have experienced some symptomatic relief of congestion using it.  Some of this may be placebo effect, but I don't really care as long as it works.Of course if you know you have been exposed to mercury get thee to a doctor. JROn May 7, 2009, at 9:00 AM, Lydia wrote:May I ask is there some reason to eat it without anything? THank youOn Thu, May 7, 2009 at 4:30 PM,  <robertsjohnhbellsouth (DOT) net>wrote:This won't make it more palatable but garlic seems more effective (to me) if you slice it up into small pieces rather swallowing a whole clove, and waiting for your body to break it down.
