We have put much effort into the files and links at this site. Reading them is a requirement for this group. Your questions below are answered in our files.

Our files state that our emphasis in this group is on moderation, moderation, moderation and aiming for a BMI somewhere between 18 and 22. In Dr W’s case, he was exposed to toxic gases in the biosphere, was extremely restricted due to conditions in the biosphere (not good at the age of 67!) and he did indeed live to be almost 80 in spite of the diagnosis of ALS in his late 60’s. His book states that extreme restriction in older, mature animals leads to shorter lives, not longer ones – also in our files.

Dr W’s book and our files and links are required reading here.

2 questions and a statement:

1. If extreme leanness with little body fat puts one at risk for ALS, what are the implications regarding advisability of following CRON?

2. Is it known whether any of the animals that Dr. Walford put on calorie restriction suffered from ALS?

3. I read somewhere that Dr. Walford, aware of his ALS, opined that he would have already died had it not been for his being on the CRON diet.
