Hi people

As part of the requirements for living and working in China, I underwent some

rigurous medical exams. The results were good.

I may have to ask a doctor, once I have a primary care one, what the numbers

mean in the blood work, because not all of them

are similar to the ones from bloodwork in the States. Part of the study involved

a sonogram. The doctor discovered a small

stone in the kidneys. I don't think I knew I had that because I had never had a

sonogram. So now I will need to read up on

stones; I may need the non-invasive laser surgery. CR continues to be elemental

to preserving my health and longevity here.

Yesterday, I accidentally exposed myself to mercury and need to go get checked

for mercury level in my blood. I used three

instruments I have to clean my teeth - a metal scraper, a metal pick and floss

in plastic picks. I noticed a metallic taste.

When I finished cleaning for 20 minutes I noticed that my right hand was gray. I

looked at the bag where I had placed the

instruments and realized that in my trip I had placed a thermometer there and it

had broken and spread the mercury over all

of the instruments. Researching in the internet, it appears I have exposure to

elemental mercury. I may need to modify my

diet to detox from it.

A site I read recommends a detox diet with these recommendations:

increase protein consumption. For vegetarians, whey protein is recommended.

maintain 2 to 3 bowel movements

avoid sugar and most grains

consume beneficial bacteria (im my case the only available is yogurt)

supplement with selenium and zinc, but not with iron

consume three garlic cloves per day, but reduce amount if odor becomes a problem

the liver and gall bladder tend to congest in toxicity so consuming taurine

helps to keep the bile flow functional.

If anyone has other suggestions, I will appreciate forwarding them to me.

Last weekend during the May holiday here, I went to visit very ancient sites in

the province of Xianci,

visiting ancient temples and structures. Ironically, during my search on iron

poisoning, I discovered that the first

emperor of unified China, the founder of the Qin dynasty, died from mercury that

was given to him repeated times with

the expectation of giving him a long life.

Cheers,

Arturo

I'd heard of garlic too... gives you a good excuse to nuke up on garlic.I'm old enough to remember handling mercury in grade school science class, and like millions of others I have mercury (amalgum) fillings, so I suspect I have ingested some over the years (that explains it :-).I don't know if you have good internet access over there this link seems useful http://answers.google.com/answers/threadview/id/523690.htmlThe symptoms of mercury poisoning can include:* impairment of peripheral vision * disturbances in sensations - that "pins and needles" feeling as wellas numbness - usually in the hands feet and sometimes around the mouth* lack of coordination of movements, such as writing * impairment of speech, hearing, walking * muscle weakness * skin rashes * mood swing, memory loss, and mental disturbances"Apparently mercury evaporates and is inhaled... Amount and duration of exposure matters. Good luck.. I think I'll eat some garlic just thinking about this... JR On May 5, 2009, at 5:26 PM, Arturo Veve wrote:Hi peopleAs part of the requirements for living and working in China, I underwent some rigurous medical exams.
