Guest guest
Overuse of antibiotics has selectively bred resistant bacteria which now pose a danger in many public places such as exercise rooms and gymnasiums. Here is the sad story of a promising athlete: Nation's tallest player has foot partially amputated http://www.usatoday.com/sports/college/mensbasketball/2008-10-17-asheville-georg\ e-amputation_N.htm Using antibacterial soaps may have the unintended consequence of eliminating relatively innocuous bacteria that might have suppressed more harmful bacteria. Even small scratches which become infected by resistant bacteria can pose life-threatening situations. When these superbugs become more common, it will be like turning back the clock to the beginning of the 20th century before the discovery of penicillin. Our longevity may depend as much on the cleanliness of our environment as on the foods that we eat. Tony
