Another really good explanation of muscle tissue deterioration: Changes in Muscle Stem Cell Function With Age: Implications for Muscle Wasting, Adiposity and FibrosisCharlotte , Ph.D. (University of Kentucky) discusses how stem cells function and impact muscles in adults, including the molecular mechanisms that are at work.
