Guest guest
Oh oh.. we better check and make sure the study wasn't sponsored by Nike ;-)Did the monkeys wear little running shoes with a swoosh on them? We are strange machines. Nothing surprises me... Actually more like anti-machines. Machines break and wear out from use.. we just get stronger, and now apparently healthier too.One alternate thesis is more exercise = more food = more exposure to toxins.I'm with the monkeys, I think I'll run.JROn Feb 3, 2009, at 9:02 PM, Francesca Skelton wrote:PBS's Frontline had a program tonight on Parkinson's disease which wasstartling and informative. Among the high points:1. Parkinson's may be genetic in some, but in many cases it has anenvironmental trigger such as a toxin.2. Monkeys that ran on a treadmill i.e. exercising monkeys shrugged offenvironmental "insults" when injected with them and remained healthy. However non-exercising monkeys developed Parkinson's when injected with thesame environmental toxin. It was suggested that other diseases can beavoided by exercise. The program can be seen again at PBS.org. I recommend watching.
