Hi group,

I have a question. . .

I've been doing a calorie-restricted diet for a little over a month, and I have

been very tired. Is this normal? Is it some sort of detox, and how long does

that typically last?

Some background info:

My goal was not to lose weight, or even to restrict calories per se - just to be

healthy and to treat long-term anxiety and insomnia. So a little over a month

ago, I cut out all " drug foods " - processed grains, gluten, sugar, pasteurized

dairy, etc. I found that when I did this, I have much less hunger and am eating

around 1600 calories a day, without trying to restrict calories. I have never

been overweight - I am 31 years old, 5'8 " , 133 lbs. My adult weight has always

ranged from 130 to 140 lbs (more towards the latter when binging on drug foods,

which I have a history of).

My diet consists of: protein shakes (green powders, chia seeds, goat milk

protein powder, stevia, dha oil), high-protein, gluten free grains (quinoa or

buckwheat usually) and green smoothies of dark leafy greens and fruit.

So, I'm just wondering if it's normal to feel tired after about a month of this.

I should note that I'm sleeping very well and my mood swings and anxiety are

MUCH better. I find I often need 1 - 2 naps during the day.

Thank you.

Ezekiel
