Guest guest
Factcheck is a good resource but keep in mind that politicians are artful in their use of language. They are not cutting medicare benefits, they're cutting doctors and hospital medicare reimbursements by $200 Billion. I find the distinction tenuous as doctors are already dropping medicare patients due to difficulty covering costs.Recall the old fable about the scorpion and the frog crossing the river... When it comes to politicians "it's their nature".JR On Sep 14, 2009, at 10:52 AM, Ken Hodor wrote: For those of you interested in the facts or various other controversial topics, you might want to check out the website: http://www.factcheck.org/ It does an excellent job of providing a very balanced analysis of the issues. Guest guest
Actually, I didn't word it quite that way. Hard to know at 13 days, the baby's IQ, I think. The controversy might be the $150k for the operation versus let "nature" take it's course. Those with the insurance surely (I think) want to save the baby. Those without might be encouraged not. There are a relatively large number of birth defects (1 in 700?), not necessarily, preemies. Here I saw a penniless baby saved. Maybe it's a moral issue, maybe money but certainly not IQ. So the real question might be do we (the taxpayer?) want to fund such operations?
