Alz is expected to explode because of the aging of the population and baby boomers reaching seniority. On last night’s “World News Tonight†there was an interesting report on progress (unfortunately I can’t find the segment at the website and if anyone else can access it, please do post).Current findings are pointing to the disease’s relation to a deficiency of insulin in the brain and as expected, diabetics are particularly susceptible to getting Alz. A breathing apparatus it increase insulin in the brain is in the testing phase. Also, just as in diabetes, exercise was emphasized as an important component in avoiding and preventing the progression of Alz.Interestingly, many of the posts in our group have pointed to an aging/insulin connection. And findings seem to pointing more and more to exercise as an important component to successful aging and avoiding disease.
