" Sydney experts who set out to compare the benefits from different treatments for the bone-thinning condition say they were astonished to see the death rates among those taking bisphosphonate drugs were cut by two-thirds, compared with patients taking vitamin D supplements or hormone treatment. " The authors of the research -- published today in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism -- suggest the drugs could extend life by ensuring that toxic metals remain locked up in the patients' bones, instead of allowing them to be released into the bloodstream....
