Guest guest
a: Yes, we went the Ritalin route... turned aggressive after less than a month on it......the other one you referred to is called " Tofranil " .....been there, done that......he's on Wellbutrin, another antidepressant.....wonder how much Risperdal can take? I've noticed the teeth grinding is slowly starting to come back!!!!! This was one behavior that was stopped in its tracks when began the Risperdal! Now, I'm becoming disheartened about ALL med's for ......NOTHING seems to work after a period of time and we have tried them all!! Is 1 mg. twice a day of Risperdal enough for , or does anyone else's kid here take more than that? weighs about 48 lbs. now. and is 7 yrs. old..... Thanks for answering a and giving me your suggestions....I'm really in a downward mood over these med's....... is tapping away at the TV as we speak! :-(
Guest guest
We've been lucky so far. His Risperdal is still working. He does go in spurts where he'll be really good for a while, then all of a sudden remember that he loves to tie things up. He's 60 pounds and on 1 mg twice a day. Hope this helps...I am not a medical doctor...just letting you know what my son takes, he has begun grinding his teeth again too ;( I am happy to know that Mark is not the only one who has meds not work after a while, it is so darned frustrating! Guest guest
With our kids, meds have had to be re-adjusted and even replaced with time......yes, it is frustrating and we are still working on the continual gradual increase of Amy's Zoloft to 100 mgs a day now. The doctor told me that she can go up to as much as 200 mgs eventually. As far as my son with Asperger's Syndrome, he is taking a cocktail which consists of 1200 mgs of Tegretol, 12 mgs of Respirdal and 200 mgs of Luvox. All divided into four dosages a day. He is 5' 8 " and weighs 161 lbs. I will tell you that it took us 3 years to finally reach the correct med choices and dosages for Dave. I say this to you so that you do not get discouraged. The process can be very slow and has it's downfalls. Especially when either it's the wrong meds or the dosage needs to be continually adjusted. If you keep on top of things with your doctor, eventually you will arrive at the right dosage. I did a lot of research myself on meds and talked to other parents and compared notes. Keep hanging tough..... Lupi
