Guest guest
I came home from the NDSC convention (I met our fearless leader, Joan, there, she's great) and I was quite encouraged with my plans of trying a typical preschool in September, and then ny's teacher from his Early Intervention classroom called me today and said he is displaying inappropriate behaviors which will never work in a typical classroom. She said he keeps leaving the group to go hump on the ramp and some similar behaviors as well as throwing, running, etc. She is adamantly against my idea of a typical school for next year. There were 2 excellent young adult speakers with DS at the convention who were encouraging for their success with inclusion. Then I wondered if they were just so much higher functioning to start with and is inclusion only for the higher functioning children? You never hear a speaker say they were successful in the world after a self-contained or special education. As you can see, that phone call from the teacher did a number on me, I am quite upset and discouraged right now, and I could use some help with this.
