The rest of us have not seen any benefit. I have used about a teaspoonful in breakfast for about a year for things that might otherwise enjoy the flavor of butter. I have been told that is not enough to see an effect, but I am reluctant to use more without evidence that it is both safe and effective. Guest guest
Kim, that's too funny! I'm sure none of us needs any excess male fluid. But, thats another subject.... So, is it the same as any other oil, when you cook with it? Chriss.

I have noticed that if you get the temperature too high - like if you are frying with it - it will not smell as good as it does when it's at room temperature. That's the sign to back the burner temp down. HTH, Sharon
Guest guest
Hi Jeanne, I'm so glad you signed up. A big welcome to you from us all (me, especially). I understand how taking coconut oil by the tablespoon straight can seem unappetizing. I take it that way, but it must be liquified or it does feel awful. When it's totally liquid I find my brand is almost totally tasteless and goes down smooth. It's best to have it in the middle of a meal so it has something to work on. But drizzling it on everything like Sherry does is a good idea. As for raw milk, it is much better than pasteurized, but it is not recommended for candida because of its lactose sugar content. You might be getting too much sugar from it, which feeds the candida. " Olive leaf extract can kill invading fungus rather than just inhibiting its growth. It contains a phenolic compound called oleuropein, which has antiviral, anti-fungal, antiprotozoal, and antibacterial properties. Take as directed on the product label. " I have taken Olive leaf extract and find it is not as strong a taste as Oregano Oil - goes down easier. If you're feeling bad you might want to try just one drop to start and then gradually increase it. It will kill candida. After cutting out dairy (except butter) you might want to start on probiotics next, before getting into anti-fungals too heavily. I hope this helps Jeanne. Guest guest
Bee: I have a question. I just received the Nystatin Powder and I am confused. This is what it says on the bottle. Nystatin, USP (Foreign)(5586 IU/mg) 100 MU On the side it says " Caution: May be harmful if swallowed, inhaled or absorbed through the skin " ... Then what are people supposed to use this for??? heh... Should I just disregard the label and try it? The pharmacist said he suggests just swishing it in my mouth and spitting it out.. I dont want to make myself sick. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, .
Guest guest
, Ok, I use the Tropical Traditions Coconut Oil so I can answer this question - you have the expeller coconut oil which is great for frying foods, veggies, meats, etc. That's what I use to cook with if I do not want a coconut flavor. Virgin coconut oil will smell like coconut. Go the www.coconut-info.com for more information. Irene From Irene,i would love to start with coconut oil.actually i have some.but I've heard 2 things.1. if your coc. oil smells like coconut, something is wrong. it wasn'tprocessed right.2. if your coc. oil doesn't smell like coconut, something is wrong. itwasn't processed right.i have some from tropical traditions and i can't smell any coconut.which kind, 1 or 2, should i use and what brand?thanks.laura _______________________________________________ No banners. I now use only coconut oil for cooking and olive oil for the cold dishes. It helped bring my good cholesterol up to the good range. I use the expeller pressed to cook with because I don't like the coconut flavor in the pure virgin coconut oil. I also use the vco as a skin conditioner. I couldn't live without my coconut oil. Guest guest
Irene, If your coconut oil has NO coconut smell it is probably RBD coconut oil. RBD is an abbreviation for REFINED-BLEACHED-DEODORIZED, and coconut oil that is not fit for human consumption is often put through this process to make it edible. However, perfectly good coconut oil may be RBD'd because there is a market for odorless coconut oil. If you bought RBD labeled oil and it has a coconut smell then the product was not labeled properly. If you buy unrefined/virgin cold-processed, or fermented, or low/no heat centrifuged oil, it SHOULD have a good coconut odor if it is labeled natural and not RBD. regards, Darrell From Irene,i would love to start with coconut oil.actually i have some.but I've heard 2 things.1. if your coc. oil smells like coconut, something is wrong. it wasn'tprocessed right.2. if your coc. oil doesn't smell like coconut, something is wrong. itwasn't processed right.i have some from tropical traditions and i can't smell any coconut.which kind, 1 or 2, should i use and what brand?thanks.laura > > _______________________________________________ > No banners. Guest guest
I know it is not recomended on the Gerson diet. They claim that flax seed oil is the only oil/fat that will not induce tumor growth. However, I have also heard information that coconut oil is helpful with certain types of cancer. It is highly saturated, but somehow, does not have the artery clogging properties tha other saturated oils do. Dolores Re: [ ] Coconut Oil > > Where can you find the cooking oil? They claim that flax seed > oil is the only oil/fat that will not induce tumor growth. That's true, but I've never heard this claim elsewhere. I imagine Dr. Gerson's finding was based solely on his observation of patients on Gerson therapy, but I don't believe it applies to non-Gerson patients. Gerson therapy's a unique, synergistic therapy that involves creating an unusual metabolic environment in the body, which probably does require eliminating all fats except Omega 3. (In non-Gerson patients) Omega 9 oils (e.g., olive oil) wasn't found to promote cancer growth (Boik). Fish oil, GLA, and CLA are known to inhibit cancer growth. > coconut oil...is highly saturated, but somehow, does not have the artery clogging > properties tha other saturated oils do. That's true that it doesn't have some of the potentially harmful (and POTENTIALLY artery clogging) properties of other saturated oils, but it's a myth that saturated fat per se necessarily clogs arteries (or are otherwise harmful) (westonaprice.org; mercola.com). However, since saturated fats (other than coconut oil) appear to promote cancer growth (Boik), I would avoid them.

Jo, how much oil are you taking? Coconut oil can have a detoxifying effect on the body, which can cause some of the symptoms you mentioned. Bruce Fife (Healing Miracles of Coconut Oil) recommends that you start with a small amount and slowly increase until you are taking about 3 1/2 tbsp. per day. ~~ Jocelyne

I discovered that the area above the pilot lights on my gas stove were warm enough to keep the coconut oil in a small jar melted if I put the jar on the stove right above the pilot light area. If you have an electric stove, you'll have to figure something else out. Zack
