Guest guest
1. Can someone refer me to the best website to use when attempting to start this diet? http://www.advimoss.no/GFCF_results.htm 2. If the child shows no signs or symptoms of celiac disease, is the diet still indicated to help with behaviors? showed no signs of celiac disease, and I was told at first that he tested negative (we just found out he tested OVERALL negative, but one test was positive indicating a sensitivity). He had an addiction to wheat, that's the only way to put it. We saw immediate results, like in the first week. After he stablized, we started Cod Liver Oil and his sentences lengthened. 3. Has anyone who has used this diet seen relief or cessation of the chronic mucus and runny nose? The only thing that cleared up was getting allergy meds. He's on Zyrtek. Have you considered going casein free too? never showed any addiction signs or intolerances to milk or cheese, so we never did that part of it. I've heard that a sensitivity to milk (lactose intolerance) can make you mucus-sy, if that's a word. Guest guest
I see that Lori answered the ifrst 2 questions as I wuld but on #3 our experience has been different. JJ has had the greenest runniest nose ever. He was often sent home. About 2 1/2 our ENT put him onFlonase which helped but no way cleared up the problem. In March of 2000 we had him tested for allergies by the best gut in the area. He said no allergies but it has connected to the facial structor of DS persons. In April I found a dr who would finally test for celiac--JJ was postiive and we started the diet right away. The nose was one of the first things to clear up. In June we took JJ off Flonase. And we have not used it since. And still have NO green noses. It worked for JJ and could work for you child. & Garry, parents of (10 ds), (9 ds/g-tube), JJ (6 ds/autism/celiac), (6 ds), and Esther (3 ds). All adopted.
