Everyone responds differently and at different doses. I have finally settled at 3 mg from Skips. I am still up a couple of times each night- but after midnight it seems that I can get about 6 uninterupted hours in....

I am noticing little changes...slowly....

[low dose naltrexone] Bladder problems!!

I have been on LDN since February '04. I have not worsened, however, so many of you report your bladder problems greatly improved or that they have gone away. Mine have not changed. Still up all night and running to the bathroom all day. Has anyone else experienced this?(My script is filled at Skips Pharmacy) Any words of encouragement??

Beegirl, depending on your age you may also be dealing with bladder issues related to hormone changes. You could try using evening primrose oil, which tends to help some of the symptoms of approaching menopause. Bladder control, frequency, and urgency can all occur as a result of hormone changes that occur around menopause.

Yes I feel lucky that my bladder problems have changed for the better. You need to understand I had "no" bladder control at all.

I still have had several accidents since starting on LDN 40 days ago. I was wearing adult diapers and now I wear poise pads.

LDN was like a light switch in terms of gaining bladder contol. Sorry it was not for you. I am walking better daily but I still use a scooter "no" full recovery yet.

Progress is very slow for me on LDN. Joanne

Raelene, Hi I too have many new benefits from LDN: less leg and arm spasms, more energy, clearer thinking,it factors into everything I do, bladder control restoration after 12 year decline, laugher and hope for the first time in years,

steroids controlled the symptoms for me but ldn balances the immune system it functions differently my understanding is that steroids shut the system down. I prefer the LDN plus no side effects.

I hope to have a recovery like Sammy Jo and hike yellow stone or hike anywhere again. I first noted systems trying to hike around a lake in Bar Harbor Maine 14 years ago. Being able to do that would be wonderful. I wish you all great hope and recovery, in all things Joanne

just on natural stuff, omega system, 3-6-9. evening primrose oil. i have antidepressants for 8 years now. been able to chuck the tegratol and valpro away cos of the ldn is working so good. had 7 attacks since jan. the last too were back to back and very aggressive. thats when i ended up in the wheel chair. late sept .had 7 days of steroids, which got me back walking very slowly. was walking on a walker most of the year.....now unaided..... as i'm only 41 was having trouble facing the possibility of what was happening to me. i've been diagnosed for 13 years. all i can say is keep going with the LDN i just wanted the progression to stop and everything is an added bonus and a great one too.

Realene, 41 is young. I am 48 and have been experiencing symtoms since about age 33 yet I still have not got a clear-cut Dx. Somedays it is overwhelming somedays it is not as important to give it a name as to cure it. The LDN seems to be working leaps and bounds above the steriods.

I am saddened to hear there are still some people with "little or no" symtom relief with LDN. I have a feeling we are not far from a cure for MS. We need a Lance Armstrong to raise funds for MS research. Lance recently brought-in 15 million for cancer research with the sale of yellow arm bands one dollar an arm band. We could sell multi-colored arm bands to raise funds for MS research. Nike produced the bands we need an organization to sponsor us or a group of them. Not sure why I am telling you this just an idea. Joanne

thanks joanne,

i also am upset about people not getting relief, i no how frustrating it can be when you just want to have rest from the day to day stuff that happens and wears you down. i agree this much better than steroids works much faster and is less toxic and side effects also. you got to wonder what happens with steroids in the long term. have had then around 8 times in the last 10 years, different lengths of time. this time was the longest 5 days, then 3 days later 2more days. i was pleasant i can tell you.

i agree with you it needs someone to research funds for research only. they do that here but how much goes into the research i don't know. they run the societies as well so all those people get paid from it also, and for what i ask. i don't seem to think they do much. if they used that money maybe we would have a cure, who knows. they should live with the frustration. but at least the LDN is around for us and working for lots of people. hope it stops peoples progression and maybe get symptom relief a little if not more. there has to be something out there.

i want all those people with ms to get better no matter what there progression. there is so many people with this dam disease it has to stop.

thanks for listening to my whining

raelene.

Raelene,

I can give you the low-down on the long term effects of steroids (ie,

prednisone). When I was diagnosed in 1977, that is all they put me on - for

five years. I took 80 mg of prednisone in the morning, 5 mg Valium at noon to

calm me down, and 20 mg Dalmane at night to put me to sleep. I was a suicidal

maniac the entire time. I finally stopped cold turkey in 1982. That was rough

but well worth it. Anyway, because of the prednisone, the lining of my stomach

was completely eaten up so, today, I do not enjoy food and can barely eat. (It

is almost like gastric bypass surgery - my stomach is the size of a small

finger.) It changed my taste buds so that everything I put in my mouth tastes

like mush. I was never depressed before prednisone, but now I am in a chronic

depression daily. No drug helps that. I told my neurologist that I will never

take prednisone again for the rest of my life. This coming Wednesday, my

mother, who is 75 and has just been diagnosed with MS, has to see a neurologist

and I plan on giving him my speech on prednisone and the CRAB drugs. Good luck!

Peace!

VCL
