Guest guest
Hi , 1. As for painting, don't know how you work, but switching to flat surface (drafting table/drawing board) from an easel extended my painting time very much. This allows my arms to be supported by the table underneath. Also if hands get numb, shake them vigorously, also try some warm/hot water. There is a device/gadget for painting that is a combination wrist support and paintbrush holder. Will try to find an Internet site for you that has it. 2.As for balance, yes, mine is generaly worse at night, that is because I am tired. So I try to pace myself in the daytime activities. I wear in-shoe orthotic inserts which help my balance and also the medication Elavil helped my balance. I do walking meditation, you just might have to change when you do that, like if balance is better in the morning, walk/meditate then. 3. As for a book about 'Coping With The Disease', there's nothing out currently. You might try 'Numb Toes, Aching Soles' by Sennoff. It is a general discussion of peripheral neuropathy, of which CMT is one type. Our list/discussions are about the best place to learn how others cope that I know of. 4. As for the future, I would just say live in the moment and don't worry about the future. I've had CMT since childhood and everything I worried about never happened!
