Put it in a bag and carry it onto the aircraft. Security might be curious as to what it is and may ask you to open the bag so they could check it. Tell them it's fine as long as they wear gloves. I never check my BiPAP with my luggage because God forbid it gets damaged or lost. If you have a backup battery to you can even use it on the aircraft in flight. Now, about going on a cruise. All cruise lines have a special needs phone number. I have been on a cruise once and completely fell in love with it. I told the guy in the special needs department I have a BiPAP. I asked him about distilled water for my humidifier and he knew exactly what I needed. In fact he guessed that I had a BiPAP just by my request for distilled water. They have extension cords and I believe they have power strips. Just tell them everything you need before you cruise. I have swallowing issues and purée a lot of my food. I told them that as well and they puréed my food on the ship and it looked beautiful on my plate along with everything else! Have a great time in all your travels! If so, you'll need to buy a battery that is compatible w/ your Bi-Pap. You also might want to check if you'll need an adapter if you're going abroad just to plug it in the outlet. Do you know any other units that have internal/detachable batteries? I don't want to use external batteries. It's very uncomfortable to travel with them. Thanks. Guest guest Posted April 20, 2012 Report Share Posted April 20, 2012 When I requested the Trilogy (not from Apria), I said there was a change in my condition--that I needed to use a vent or Bi-pap throughout the day rather than just at home. Because of this, I need a machine w/ an internal battery. It wasn't easy to get this approved but you can stress how you are active outside the home and this will provide the ventilatory support you need.
