I used the SureHands Lift and LOVE it! Am in the process of getting one, they

are expensive but there's a company that does financing. Personally, it was the

most comfortable lifting experience I've ever had, maybe even better than my

6'4 " brother lifting me! It does hold your ribcage, but the weight of your legs

in the bottom part keeps it from squeezing in an uncomfortable way. I've seen

folks with weight bearing ability walk while just using the ribcage part, though

I believe that would put lots of pressure. If you want to try it, the company

will bring one to your home to try it. They did for me. The only thing I would

say is that to use it without a sling, you must be able to hold your head up

yourself. Balance isn't a problem because of the smoothness of the lift from

your original position, however, they do sell slings, too.

Hope this helps! Ellyn

has a metal Body Support instead of the usual fabric sling. My concern is that

the Body Support appears to put pressure on the chest wall as lifting occurs,

and I wonder if that interfers with breathing? If anyone has tried this, or

uses this regularly, I would be most appreciative for your experiences. Thanks.

Thank you Ellyn for sharing your experience with this type of ceiling lift. I

feel more comfortable going ahead and arranging a demonstration of it. Like

everyone else, investing in this type of expensive equipment needs to be

something that works well for me and can be used over a long time. My changing

needs and abilities over time can make this type of decision a bit more

challenging. The experiences of others in this group is invaluable!
