Guest guest
Hi all, I don’t write frequently, but I follow up all the time. I like the open way conversations are given in the group, for such reason, I was wondering if the girls who have got pregnant could share a little their experience with me (not too graphic please, because, I am not a strong stomach person, LOL), please, let me know if you gave natural birth or cesarean, and how did you handle breathing or anesthesia in such case. All the useful info is welcome! - I am 41, sma 3. Thank you girls!!! All the best to all! Lee

Guest guest
Hi Lee, I have two boys ages 6 and 2. I have type 3 SMA and I am still walking at the age of 43. Both my pregnancies were incredibly easy, I never even threw up once!!! I gave both to both of them via c-section. ly, the SMA was a good excuse to avoid labour and childbirth. Although I seriously doubt that my body would have been able to cope with it anyway, I really didn't want to even try. The recovery was difficult, lots of pain. But all in all, a piece of cake. I did find my balance was worse than normal and had a bad fall near the end of my first pregnancy. Spent the last 6 weeks in bed with torn ligaments in my left knee & ankle. That was not a lot of fun but at least I rested! Anything is possible, don't let SMA stop you from having a family if that is what you want. I'm living proof it can be done! Good luck!!! Laurie. Guest guest
Hi Laurie! Thank you so much for sharing your experience :-) Congratulations! (for everything :-)) So, you had your boy of 2 at the same age than me, good to hear that! I don’t walk since I was about 9, but I’ve been a healthy person mostly and my life has been quite fine, I’ve been able to drive my car, got to University (twice), work, etc… My husband and I did not plan it, but it happened, so, we are dealing with his SMA carrier test now and by the end of this month I will have the usual pregnancy preventive tests, you know. Even I felt confidence since the beginning, I had such a bad input from the high risk doctor who I attended at my county clinic, that I decided, you know, ask to the experienced ones, just in case. :-) Thank you once again! All the best to you and your family :-) Lee P.s.: excuse my English, as it’s not my native language. _____ De: [mailto: ] Enviado el: Jueves, 09 de Febrero de 2012 04:35 a.m. Para: Asunto: Digest Number 3739 Messages 1a. </message/31597;_ylc=X3oDMTJydTUwZXE wBF9TAzk3MzU5NzE1BGdycElkAzY4MTIxMDYEZ3Jwc3BJZAMxNzA1MDEzNDgxBG1zZ0lkAzMxNTk 3BHNlYwNkbXNnBHNsawN2bXNnBHN0aW1lAzEzMjg3ODAwODE-> Re: To the girls who had got pregnant Posted by: " Laurie Sore " <mailto:lauriesore@...?Subject=%20Re%3A%20To%20the%20girls%20who%20had%2 0got%20pregnant> lauriesore@... <xandersmummy> xandersmummy Wed Feb 8, 2012 4:21 am (PST) Hi Lee, I have two boys ages 6 and 2.
