You know i thought of this .

As the KT seems amenable to mixing it with say ,shouchu .

I love to make shouchu (Japanese vodka)sours.

I do not drink a lot,but i like sours ,as you make them with fruit

juices and ginger ale.So they are sweet and not very toxic ....

usually ..

So i did think of this,as it seemed like KT would mix well with

Shouchu .

But if KT detoxifies the liver, and alcohol does the opposite ,common

sense says ,this might taste good ,but it might not be not a good mix

for the body .

So i erred on the side of caution .

It might be interesting to try it once ,to see how it might taste

but..

dunno ..

Its iffy at best .

i'm sure you have been here B4 but i just joined in....do many of you

use Everclear and are you satisfied with it? i was talking to someone

at Carolina Biological, ordering glasswarwe, and asked about

undenatured alcohol and almost B4 i could get that out of my mouth, he

said go buy Everclear. but it smells!

thanks!

Hiya Dabney,

I've never used Everclear myself but no reason why you can't as long as the

proof is high enough. Personally I use non-denatured 190 proof organic grain or

grape alcohol from Alchemical Solutions. (There should be a link to their

website in the Links section of the NP site.)

Just put it through a Brita filter, or buy activated charcoal at the pet

supply store and filter it yourself.

Are you sure that it smells? I'm experimenting with some Everclear right

now and mine smells pretty good. Make sure you're in a state where you

can get the 190 proof version (here in MN you can't, but you can next

door in Wisconsin). I would be curious to have someone do a comparison

between Everclear and the organic alc that people are using here.

As long as there is no denaturant then they should smell pretty close

I am hoping. I noticed that the Artisan's alcohol I have from snowdrift

smells pretty sweet to me right now, I suspect that might be from

the hexylene glycol that is in it, and not from the alc itself being more

neutral.

It is most likely also possible to get some cheap vodka from whereever,

and filter it yourself with some carbon a couple times. That should

make it smell better, and should be a pretty cheap option.

thanks Anya and Mike...i will try that. altho it doesn't smell BAD,

just smells like alcohol..which i'm not used to. which is what has

kept me away from the comercial perfume counters..all i could smell

was the alcohol! i can get 190 proof tho, here in arkansas.

on my other front, these cacao and raspberry hydrosols are making me

swoon! i want to combine them, possibly even with rose for a new

facial mist. a new genre?

Here's what you need to try: Dip a scent strip in the Everclear. Waft it

under your nose. Do NOT inhale deeply. Do NOT inhale alcohol straight

from the bottle.

Report back.

Hi ,

Probably not! Most homemade Kombucha has between 1/2- 1% alcohol about the same

found in fruit juice or white bread.

Enjoy your KT at work, maybe they would like to try it too.

Bev

That really depends on how you brew your KT. Do you use a lot or a little sugar?

Do you allow your KT to have a lot of exposure to air? These are things that

affect the alcohol content of KT. Lot of sugar = alcohol. Little exposure to

air= alcohol.

I think it is really unwise to carry your KT in an alcohol bottle. It would be

better to use a KT bottle. I carry mine in GT bottles and I never get razzed. It

doesn't matter if you carry pure water in an alcohol bottle you are going to get

inquires.

Hey guys,

So I've noticed that every time i drink, i get an extremely racy heart 4-6 hours

AFTER i consume the drink(s). when i'm awake and doing things my heart rate is

normally anywhere from 80-120bpm. But when i get this racy heart after drinking,

my heart rate will literally go up to like 150bpm and lasts like an hour or 2. i

have no heart condition and no other reaction to alcohol. any ideas?

hours after I've gone to bed. I'm guessing with SMA our bodies are more

susceptible to dehydration. I will occasionally drink quite a bit and I drink a

lot of water before, during and after. I ALWAYS drink a bottle of water right

before I go to bed along with a multi-vitamin and a couple tylenol. If I follow

the water regimen my heart does not race and my hangover usually consists of

just feeling tired and out of it.

Yes, it's usual that it happens several hours later, because that's when you

start getting sober. If it happens to you even after one drink, it's a clear

sign that you are dehydrated most of the time. Start drinking more water instead

of alcohol.

Your heart doesn't race, because you are better hydrated. And yes, alcohol makes

SMA people extremely tired. Everybody needs to know their limits.
