Guest guest
I had always used rojo until recently when i was getting leg pain, hip pain and " bottomside " pain. I ended up getting a gel cushion that actually works best when I use it backwards lol Might be time to try something new From: Aunt617@... <Aunt617@...> Subject: ROHO cushions Date: Sunday, April 29, 2012, 10:57 AM I've been using a ROHO cushion for years, but since my back curvature has worsened, I still get pain in my hip and backside every day. Guest guest
I have not tried the gel cushion. Is it true that it's more difficult moving your body around when sitting on it? I'll look into it. Thanks for your suggestions.
Guest guest
I use a Jay 2 cushion, it has gel & works great for my hip pain. Terri
Guest guest
I recently started using a honeycomb cushion. It's called the Slimline XS by Supracor. It's comfortable, vents well and is easy to transfer from. A great improvement from previous cushions I had. My biggest issue with the Jay I had was it was hot and made me damp with sweat. The ROHO I demoed made transfers difficult. Wheelchair distributors have demo cushions so you can try one first. That's what I did to find Supracor. > > I've been using a ROHO cushion for years, but since my back curvature has > worsened, I still get pain in my hip and backside every day. Guest guest
Does your chair tilt and recline? That seems to help me alleviate the pain in my hips and tailbone when I regularly tilt and recline. I use a ROHO and there are different types (thicker cushions, cushions w/ 4 different quadrants that can be customized). Guest guest
I never found a ROHO to be comfortable enough or stable for me. While I don't transfer myself, I often go over uneven ground so stability was important. Worse than that, I'm ridiculously sensitive and aware of any little discomfort. I put the 'princess' in 'Princess and the Pea.' :-D Best result so far has been getting an electric chair with a tilt feature and an Otto Bock custom fabricated seat cushion. The process of molding it to your backside takes a couple hours and involves lots of up-down, up-down but worth the trouble. Your local equipment company should be able to help and this is covered by insurance with a doctor's Rx. Bonus: they're not ugly. In fact, the matte black cover helps it blend into the background. And they offer custom back support for scoliosis. Hope this helps. Guest guest
Hello everyone, For a number of reasons, I never wanted to use a ROHO cushion. The instability and possibility of failure, seemed too problematic. Finally my wheelchair vendor referred me to a product which has worked out fantastically! The cushion is called " Starlock " and a link to the company is below. Basically it is an air cushion like the ROHO, but has the added benefit of being able to customize each individual cell under one's butt and lock it in place. It takes a little bit of practice to learn how to adjust everything correctly, but well worth the effort. This cushion has been a complete game changer for me! T.K.
