Russ, I remember the smell of paint thinner well But from only a semester at college in the seventies. I spend more time with: drawing, water colors, sculpting, jewery making, I love acrylic painting and make pottery. I have spent a great deal of time instructing in sheltered work shops around people with various disabilities. I see no link.

There is also no family history of MS ever. I remain puzzeled! Have a great day and God bless you and your. CU Joanne L.

Hi Russ,

I have a friend with ms that used to run an auto body shop. He swears his

ms is due to inhaling all the paint and solvent fumes. I think there is a

lot to it. When I was 18 I used to spray paint cars on the General Motors

assembly line.

Regards,

Tom

P.S. FSBO ....good work!

Russ...I remember as a child finding mercury (probably from a

thermometer) and with some other siblings, just played with it in my

hands for a while...it was fun. So innocent we were. None of my

siblings have MS though and my brother Jon played with it the most (he

always hogged the toys).

We just painted 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms in our house (with the help

of wonderful friends - cause we are selling) and it being winter here;

we were only able to open windows for a short time. The paint doesn't

smell strong but the nose cant always detect harmful things. Everyday

I wonder what noxious vapors am I inhaling from the carpet, pressboard,

paint and whatever else goes into making a house (9 yrs old).

Also got fiber glass insulation all over me once at about 4-5 yrs of

age when my Dad was doing some building in northern Ontario. It was

hot out that day and it stuck to the sweat. It felt very uncomfortable

but no one really panicked. Its amazing any of us over 40 survived

childhood! Not to mention the leaded paint they used back

then.....yikes!
