Guest guest
The district has broken down the minutes for his class time for reg ed-190 and 170 in the Cognitive Delayed/Spec Ed room. But have given as you say reg ed room time as lunch, recess, phy ed, art, music and what they call centers. Where basically it is diferent centers set up in the room where the children are free to choose from. Like dramatic play, legos, dinos, painting and such. So for all academics he will be put in the other room. I have just done his IEP and realized that this is what is going to happen to him. I really dont think he should be pulled from class for academics. As you can see that this is bothering me and it will untill I can get a meeting come next fall. Seth will have an aide with him at all times, he should be able to spend most of his day in the reg ed room. This is so hard. I have an older son with Autism and I have been through many IEP's before but this little guy's is a bit different. Thanks for all your input. Guest guest
Dear School District Thats all it takes! A letter to the School District is all that is needed for a review of an IEP. Send it registered mail return reciept requested. The District has 10 business days from the date they sign for it to contact you and set up a meeting - that meeting must be held within 15 days of their notification to you. So a total of 25 days. Thats the federal law. Let the district know you know the time limits. Don't let them give you a song and dance well we can't get every one together to review. Thats their problem and you want them only to follow the law. I know this sounds harsh but districts love to string you along. Don't allow your child to be a pawn. Don't allow yourself to worry over this all summer. Get busy and request a review today in writing. Guest guest
Hi Randy, I have inquired about the time frame in setting up a ppt and was told numerous times it was just a resonable amout of time.Whatever that means! Where is that in the federal regs.? I have never seen it or can the states do there own? Charlyne
