Guest guest
Hello! I sent a brief introduction back in December, but to recap, my almost 2.5 year old son was recently diagnosed with by his pediatrician. When he fevers, he gets all of the classic symptoms for a week, but he doesn't fever every month like many kids do; his cycle is closer to every two months. Unfortunately, he began fevering yesterday and for the first time, we are looking to give him prednisone to stop the cycle. I took him to the doctor this morning and the doctor on call gave us the prescription for predisone, but I'm not sure he gave us the correct dosage for treating a episode. Here's what he gave us: Prednisolone 15 MG/ 5 ML SOLN Take 3/4 tsp daily for 3 days, then 1/4 tsp for 3 days. FYI - my son is approx. 30 lbs and is well into the fever cycle now (hit 106 last night). It seems to me from other posts on this topic that kids with are usually given a higher dose initially and are sometimes given additional doses 12 hours after the first or even a few days later. I don't recall seeing kids being given the drug for 6 consecutive days. Any assistance you could provide would be much appreciated! Thanks so much!
