Guest guest
Dawn, Our daughter (7 years) has had 10 surgeries, so I have LOTS of experience with what to expect. Of the 10, we only had complications once. I understand you worry with not having gone through surgery before. If you have any doubts after your son has his surgery, such as bleeding, fevers, etc... I would not hesitate to take him back to the hospital. I've learned that the Mother knows her child best and knows when something isn't right. We had 2 daughters that had T & A. Our grown daughter, had her's out when she was 6. She had a tough time of it. She had to go back into surgery to stop her bleeding. The Dr said this is VERY RARE, so I doubt it would be a concern for you. It took her a bit longer to recover. She was on iron for 6 months after. With our youngest daughter, we were in ICU for 24 hours. It was enough time. No complications at all. However she was very sensitive to smells for about a week. Her throat hurt and she needed a lot of popsicles and drinks. I'd let your son have as many drinks as he wants. It took her about a week to feel better. She was 3 and wanted lots of cuddling. She still has fevers, but no dx. I am charting it now to pursue a dx. Elaine > > Hi.
