Guest guest
Naltrexone is a medication generally recommended for self injury behaviors. http://www.autism.org/sib.html I would say that if you see positive changes in your child with the enzymes, you can consider reducing the naltrexone, but if your child's injury behaviors were so serious as to consider using this medication, that you reduce it slowly and very carefully, and be prepared to increase it again if necessary. This dosage is used by those with certain illness/disease. The side effects could be temporary sleep disturbance usually meaning vivid dreams. 50mg is used by people trying to end their addiction to opium, heroin and alcohol. You should spend some time studying the website to become familar with the medication. http://www.low dose naltrexone.org/index.htm#What_is_low_dose_naltrexone
Guest guest
I see you already received the 3.0 or 4.5 MG response... If you haven't read through the main webpages, http://www.ldninfo.org has all the information you'll need. Also check out http://www.gazorpa.com and http://www.ldners.org side effects vary but some of them are quite interesting.. like my hair and nails grow faster than ever before [low dose naltrexone] Naltrexone Hello-I'm new to this board and wondered what is considered a low dose? I have a prescription entered for 50 mg and I'm concerned about side effects. Thanks
Guest guest
Thank you Art and LarryGC for your responses. I appreciate the additional research sites.....I picked up on this board on a ReVia site. The 50mg dosage was precribed for a serious gambling addiction rather than substance addiction so I was concerned about the dosage and side effects. I see that the LDN dosage is much smaller in comparison and hopefully beneficial to those using it. The 50mg dosage has more extensive side effects and there's no searching for a downplay there for me. Thanks again for your help. -dunnrs > A Low Dose of Naltrexone is between 3.0 and 4.5.mg. I > have a prescription entered for 50 mg and I'm concerned about side > effects. > > Thanks > ========== First visit the LDN website http://www.ldninfo.org Please read the Further Q and A page while at the LDN site, many fail to read that section. Instructions for making homemade LDN from the 50mg ReVia tablets. Liquid LDN (Easiest): Acquire some ml measuring equipment from the baby section of a Drug Store and a small bottle with a screw-on cap. Put 50ml of water (distilled is best) and one 50mg " ReVia " Naltrexone tablet in the small bottle and let it dissolve with a little time and shaking. Now each ml of water in that small bottle contains 1 mg of Naltrexone. At bedtime shake the bottle, take a desired dose (no more than 4.5ml), chase it down with some water and store the small bottle in the refrigerator. Some people have reported splitting the tablet in half and dissolving it in 25ml of water to assure freshness every week. You may want to drop your measured dose of nightly LDN into a tablespoon of orange juice or tea to curb the bitterness of the medication. Guest guest
Art, Do you take 4ap? If you do from where do you get it? Thanks Elena From: Art Hansen <rtee54@...>low dose naltrexone Sent: Wednesday, February 4, 2009 4:52:07 PMSubject: [low dose naltrexone] Naltrexone Naltrexone is an opioid receptor antagonist used primarily in the management of alcohol dependence and opioid dependence. It is marketed in generic form as its hydrochloride salt, naltrexone hydrochloride, and marketed under the trade names Revia and Depade. In some countries including the United States, an extended-release formulation is marketed under the trade name Vivitrol. It should not be confused with naloxone, which is used in emergency cases of overdose rather than for longer-term dependence control. This is not to say that Naltrexone cannot be used to reverse an overdose from opioids, since being a full antagonist, it will reverse an overdose. However, given that Naltrexone is a longer-acting antagonist, Naloxone would be a more ideal antidote in emergency situations.http://en.wikipedia .org/wiki/ Naltrexone
Guest guest
Because my new Dr. which I saw today put me on LDN, but I also ask about 4-ap and she said o.k no problem just said that I would have to find a compounding pharmacy to make it. On the LDN I will go with Skip but for the 4-AP not sure. Basically it's Low Dose Bird Poison (LDBP). Started it after I gave up on Prokarin, which, for me, was expensive, messy and ineffective. Take 20-40 mgs a day, depending how I feel. Get it through a compounding pharmacy. A doctors prescription is needed. Bottle of 120 5mg. capsules, a month's supply, costs around $30. Find it helps a bit with muscle spasms and restless leg syndrome. Have never experienced adverse side-effects. I think 4-AP is worth a try if you're struggling with multiple sclerosis. Guest guest
I hate to say this, but I don't really think bird poison, even if it's low dose, sounds like a very good idea. Guest guest
HI Art or anyone with info, I've been away for awhile so am just getting caught up with all the posts. Guest guest
Tonette-I have MS(although I am waiting for my Lyme testing results to come back), and have taken 4-AP for a couple of months. It is the only med that has had a direct impact on my legs. I definitely notice improvement in my walking, and have experienced no side effects. Guest guest
LDN has been something on my list to try for years! I just never get around to asking my doc about it. I guess it can cause some pretty good insomnia for a couple of weeks initially. That would be a hard two weeks for me as I have become intolerant of sleep deprivation.Best,
Guest guest
I am looking for information about Naltrexone for Autism. I looked on the web and found general information. I want information from parents who have tried naltrexone to treat their children's symptoms. My son is 11 and he has self injurous behaviors. He also has tourettes syndrome. His tics and obsessive behaviors have gotten worse over the last year. The last thing we tried was Abilify. It made him worse. Is anyone experiencing similiar behaviors? If so, Any recomendations? Thanks Treenov98
