Grandparents residing in the United States and its territories who have a biological, adoptive, or step-grandchild on the autism spectrum are invited to complete the anonymous internet survey. Senate Finance Committee Passes Health Care Reform Bill Containing Autism Insurance Reform Amendment This week, the U.S. Senate Finance Committee passed a health care reform bill containing an amendment introduced by Senator Menendez (D-NJ) for autism insurance reform. The amendment will prohibit discrimination in benefits against people with autism by including behavioral health treatments as part of the essential benefits package. In response to the recent study which indicates that autism affects 1 in every 91 American children, Autism Speaks launched an online campaign “We Need Answers†to galvanize the community to act, creating an easy-to-use way to spread the word.
