Guest guest
I really think it has to do with the individual. The doctor usually starts low and increases by 5mg. until you get to the optimum dose. The max they can take at once is 30 mg. I know of a young man that takes 5 in am and 5 in pm. I also know of another person who takes much higher doses. One of the side effects is anxiety(feeling like you are going to jump out of your skin). We had a really serious situation here with my son. He would beat his head until the wall broke(we have holes in his bedroom wall) or he couldn't go on any more or blood would be trickling down his face. At the last he would bang the tv or computer screen and if we tried to stop him he harmed us. It came to the point of us wondering who would be hospitalized first, or one of us. I am also working on some biomed hoping that this will not be a forever thing.  My son is now on 10mg in the morning and at night, but he started at 10, then 20, then 25mg at night only. When he got up to 25 mg. he would cry all the time. The klonopin seems to be the thing that keeps him stable because it deals with anxiety, and between the anxiety from the abilify and  his natural anxiety and ocd, it is unbearable for him. Unfortunately, Klonopin is one of those things that becomes habit forming over time and once they are on any of these meds for a while there is a withdrawal unless they are decreased very slowly. They tried him on some prozac, but my son doesn't deal well with ssri's well.  I hope you can get something from all of this rambling.  D. > > From: mailto:lauriemagic%40aol.com <mailto:lauriemagic%40aol.com> > Subject: Re: Abilify > mailto:%40 > Date: Friday, January 7, 2011, 10:45 AM > > Thank you for the best answer. Guest guest
I second the crying on Abilify. It also increased dangerous behavior opening car door while on freeway or running out into traffic. Risperdal is way way better helping controling tantrums increasing focus and language. Risperdal also increases hyperactivity and so her brain is activated and getting into things more but also learning more as much as GFCF diet. > > From: mailto:lauriemagic%40aol.com <mailto:lauriemagic%40aol.com> > Subject: Re: Abilify > mailto:%40 > Date: Friday, January 7, 2011, 10:45 AM > > Thank you for the best answer.
