REIKI ENERGY CIRCLE - EVERY MONTH AT THE

INSIGHT LEARNING & WELLNESS CENTER

Do you have a child with special physical, mental or emotional needs?

Do you feel stressed and overwhelmed at times with the responsibilities of caring

for your child? Do you have other children that may feel "left out" due to the

amount of attention your special needs child requires? If so, perhaps the loving

energy of Reiki can help. Reiki reduces stress, promotes a sense of peace and well-being, and enhances therapeutic and medical treatments. The Insight Learning and Wellness Center is now offering a monthly Reiki Energy Circle for children with special needs and their families, on the third Sunday of every month from 3:45 - 5:45 p.m. This month's circle will be held on January 24, 2010.

A group of volunteer certified Reiki practitioners come together in a large circle and simultaneously send energy to your child and family in the center. This takes place in a supportive, respectful and soothing environment. This tends to be a very powerful experience for everyone involved due to the high amount of energy in the room.

Each scheduled family session lasts 15 - 30 minutes. You are welcome and encouraged to bring quiet toys, books, a favorite blanket or anything that might make your child feel comfortable and safe. Children are not required to sit still and you are welcome to interact with each other in whatever way you need to during the session. We ask that you call ahead to register for a specific time and share some background information regarding your child, what issues you are currently working on, what you are most concerned with, and any progress that has occurred. This will be shared with the volunteers, and helps them gain rapport and

know how the Reiki energy can help or has helped you.

Cost: An offering from the heart. A basket will be available as you exit.

CONFERENCE AT CSU: Autism - Linking Research to Effective Intervention Practices

Saturday February 6, 2010

9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.

Pragmatic Sessions, Practitioner Focused, Panel Presentations

Keynote Speaker: J. Wheeler, Ph.D.

Relevant and Practical Content: The focus of this conference is the identification and utilization of effective intervention practices that increase the quality of life for children and adults with autism. Specifically, we will present a number of targeted interventions that are complemented by all information necessary for implementation. These effective practices will be presented along with a resource CD that will be provided to all registrants. The CD will feature information that is practical and pragmatic; addressing a variety of

social and emotional problems that are commonly experienced when interacting with people with autism.

Panel Members and Effective Practices: An effective practice symposium will feature a number of invited area professionals who will highlight research-based interventions that have been successfully implemented within their respective settings. Complementing their presentations, the CD contains additional information, as well as related research and/or practitioner journal articles. The successful programming presented will demonstrate the components of effective, proactive, interventions.

Dr. Wheeler has been meeting the needs of students with Autism for over twenty five years. His contributions include founding and coordinating state-wide support initiatives delivered in two states, as well as a voluminous set of research publications and two books addressing effective service delivery models.
