I received this conference notice from Damer, a Columbus based reading specialist, about a conference in Columbus in August about using direct instruction to teach children with ASD. I believe it will mostly be about reading. Please post if you deem appropriate. Thanks, Judy Saltzman Effective Programs for ASD Learners, August 16-18, 2010 Columbus, Ohio Registration is now open for the Effective Programs for Learners with AutismSpectrum Disorders­ A Direct Instruction Conference, to be held in Columbus,Ohio, August 16­18, 2010. The conference will be held at the Hilton Columbus/Polaris. The conference will prepare participants to use a range of DI programseffectively with students with ASD. There will be extensive opportunitiesfor practice as well as video demonstrations. At the closing session of theconference, participants will have an opportunity to have their questionsanswered by a panel of highly experienced trainers with a successful trackrecord of utilizing the DI programs with learners with ASD. This conference is approved by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board for19 hours of type 2 CEUs, which may be applied towards certification orrecertification as a BCBA.
