Guest guest
What if you don’t walk this year? It’s just one year, right? Research released this week indicates that the prevalence of autism is now 1 in every 91 births....1 in every 58 boys. But it's just one year....The World Health Organization estimates that autism costs society approximately $35 billion each year…just one year. In the four years since Autism Speaks was founded, we have been able to go from start-up to the largest funder of autism research in the world by committing an unprecedented $130 million to science. It has been the hundreds of thousands of walkers in each community who have changed the future of those who struggle with autism by raising those funds. We need you to register to walk with us this year to keep the momentum going. While we are making strides in leveraging more research dollars through our grassroots advocacy initiatives, autism receives less than 5% of the research funding of many less prevalent childhood diseases. It is up to us, those of us who love someone affected by autism, to continue pushing the research advances forward. We can’t afford to sit this year out.
