Guest guest
Dear Autism Society of Ohio OAAN Advocate: Great News! This afternoon, the Ohio House passed HB 8 - Autism Insurance Coverage. The original language of HB 8 (click here or visit http://www.legislature.state.oh.us/bills.cfm?ID=128_HB_8) was amended similar to the language of the bill that was amended into HB 1 (the Ohio Budget). It includes a $36,000/per cap on benefits, requiring providers to be licensed or work under a licensed provider, delays the effective date of the legislation until January 2011 and a 1% cost increase opt out for insurers. THANK YOU for all your help in getting this legislation passed in the Ohio House - an important first step! The bill now moves to the Ohio Senate for consideration. The more difficult task will be securing support for this legislation in the Senate. As always, ASO will alert you as to any new developments. ASO and the coalition of advocacy groups working on this legislation would not have been successful in this effort without your help. Again, thank you for all your advocacy efforts! Sincerely, Autism Society of Ohio1335 Dublin Rd., Suite 205-CColumbus, OH 43215(614) 487-4726fax: (614) 487-4725general email: askASO@... web: www.autismohio.org
