I am housebound because of my illness, and I rarely get out because I have no family. I am usually not well enough to drive. I haven't seen another person face to face for a couple of weeks. It's about time to go to the grocery store, though.

It looks like autumn outside because the leaves are falling as they burn up in the heat. It was 110 in the shade on my front porch this afternoon. We have burning and watering bans in effect, and our power has been off at least once a week because high demand stresses the system. My electric bill is terrifying! Josie

Oh Josie, can I just empathize with you for a few minutes....while I do see anothers face during the day, it's my daughter, who, while I love her so dearly, should not have the job of being her sick 45 year old mother's friend. I want her to swim next door with her friend and ride her bike around the neighborhood..etc..anyway..my point is that I know that feeling that sits there deep in you soul, it's with you....as you make your way through the day ...doing dishes, if you can, stopping to nap, maybe in the shade of the porch, maybe not, depending on the day. That shade can be lonely, but the sun is too harsh. I'd melt like the wicked witch of the west. So, yes Josie although it sounds like it is in a different way, I do know how it feels.....and one of the hardest parts is being a grown women sitting in that shade on the

porch and wishing that someone your age would like to come out and play. That's when I really feel the heat the most. .....along with being housebound without family support, along with all that goes with being chronically ill with multiple illnesses.

That's why I am glad that you and other are here each day, week....and onward....in the shade keeping me cool. Hope to do the same for you

Hugs, from PA
