Guest guest
ive been thinking, and is it really worth going back to my gp? everything thats wrong points to fibro, or to the hcv itself, is the gp going to be able to help me, or is going to tell me to see my gastro? i really dont want to waste my $ and the very limited time off i have at a dr if i dont have to.thanks reneeI'm not superstitious, but I am a little stitious. www.myspace.com/arbeez
Guest guest
Re: waste of time? Morning You brought up a very good point. We do our best by explaining things in general sharing our personal experiences for members to make up their own minds what's best for them. For me I have a Medicare HMO with a very good primary care giver GP very close to my home. We have been very honest with each other from the start and he feels my best medical care is for me to see my Hep Dr for everything except the usual common illnesses colds etc... for convenience but he would still refer medical care Rx ok's through my Hep Dr. It has been this way for over 9 years and before my transplant. My Medicare with all their strict rules guidelines referrals needed by seeing my GP primary care giver 1st have also made these exceptions for my medical case has turned over my total medical care and tx from my GP to my Hep Dr because I needed a higher medical specialist and his expertise for HCV. Many people with HCV take very serious risks by not completely coordinating their total medical care dr's tx's rx's otc with an experienced Gastro/Hepatologist for their medical care HCV care and tx. Having HCV liver disease all related medical complications conditions is unlike any other major illness with all we ingest - rx's - dx's - meds - over the counter meds - eat - exposed to toxins skin air - what we take - some things we do because it is a primary major organ liver disease. The liver filters all we ingest part of our gastro all systems organs blood supply circulation keeps us alive and a full body HCV disease. We worry focus so much about our viral loads and not our livers proper care that keeps us alive liver disease from HCV and seeing an experienced liver gastro hepatitis specialist Hepatologist for our best total medical care and tx's. It is now know a small % of HCV replicates thrives outside the liver but loves the liver where it sets up shop does the most damage and to us. We can live with viral loads but not without a healthy enough liver from all we ingest all other dx's and with a healthy life style and choices. While on HCV tx meds which are very powerful can be life threatening combined with other rx's and our own medical conditions. Just plain tylenol alone otc and in all other meds rx's combined that we don't realize it is in from all Dr's can throw us into toxic liver disease failure. I wonder and worry how many people members realize how imprtant the primary organ liver is how it works all that it does how HCV and all we do take affects it and impacts our lives. We have posted liver articles and have it also posted in files and how many have actually read it and know about it or understand the huge differences in medical Dr's their specialities and medical expertise. All The Best.
