Hello,My name is and I have a 3yr. old son who is high functioning ASD. He is on SCD which is helping greatly but he still has a lot of behavioral issues and lack of social skills that I want to get him help for before the most important, crucial time period (before 4yrs.) is past. I can't afford a $50K a year school for him. He is potty trained, brilliant and ready for preschool but I don't want him in just some typical special ed class where he isn't getting any applied behavior analysis therapy. Thanks in advance, Gray

,To my awareness, there is no public district school/preschool with an ABA program in NEO. Some county programs in the area may have an center based program using ABA. Although we do not live in the district of Avon Lake, I believe they do have an ABA classroom or classrooms modeled after the Clinic, but may no longer... (I'm not sure). Some districts including ours, use a kind of classroom TEACH model with some one-on-one, and some schools may call that ABA. If your instincts as a parent is telling you your school is not able to meet your son's need, by all means do not place him there. My wife and I went through the same thing four years ago with our ASD child. After six months of early intervention program at our local school district's preschool, my child did not progress and actually lost skills. We pulled our child out of her public preschool and went on the Autism Scholarship. We started a ABA home program with tutors and a Behavioral Consultant, along with private SLP and OT therapies' and private preschool, etc. It still cost us almost $50K a year at its peek. You need to be aware that Applied Behavior Analysis is very expensive, and although I am a firm believer of ABA, it does has its limitations. There is no perfect program, no magic bullet or cure for most children. Also, most home ABA programs do not have the licensed BCBA consultants working with the families directly, rather its usually an unlicensed understudy. Make sure that the program you chose either gives you the BCBA, or the BCBA manages your child's case indirectly, as well as your understudy-consultant. So it is best to shop around. And whether it is school district or private provider, get promises in writing.Best of luck,- M [ ] Need help finding applied behaviorial analysis therapy
