Guest guest
I was diagnosed by accident because of another problem in October 2003. Geno 1, stage 1, grade 1. We figure I’ve had it since the late 70’s/early 80’s. I did Pegasys/Riba all thru 2004 & cleared at 12 weeks. I had the typical sides (mostly fatigue), but some freaky ones, too, but some of them may have been because tx knocked my thyroid out of whack & we kept having to adjust my meds for that. I worked overtime the entire time on tx & never had to use vacation for my planned days off, which I took if I had extra things to do that would consume my valuable energy. If I wasn’t at work, I was on the couch or in bed usually. I’ve been clear almost 5 years now. The doc asked me recently if I had any regrets because tx made my vitiligo (lack of pigment in my skin) worse and all my hair that fell out came back white. I just laughed and told him no, that I love the new hair God gave me, and that was nothing compared to being clear of the virus. He says I’m one of his success stories because I did everything I was supposed to do. It was touch & go about finishing for a while because my blood counts got too low & the insurance wouldn’t let me have epogen because it was “experimental”, but we just did blood test every week and prayed I’d stay above the line & I did. Praise God that I’ll probably still be around a long time to tell about it. Suppose you were an idiot. And suppose you were a member of Congress.... But then I repeat myself. -Mark Twain
