First, some good news, I became a grandmother for the second time (this time

to a grandson named after my son) on August 6, 2008 - I became a grandmother

for the first time (to a granddaughter) in October 2006.

I have autoimmune disorders which include a type of arthritis. This means

that I keep having to purchase things to make things easier for me. I have

2 cats that need to go to the vet about 3 months apart from each other

(their names are Miss Kitty and Lieutenant Starbuck) and took Miss Kitty to

the vet yesterday (she is about 2 pounds lighter than Starbuck is). When I

take one to the vet, I have to carry them from the car to the vet in their

car carrier which adds a couple of pounds to their normal weight and

yesterday I almost could not carry Miss Kitty in - unfortunately, because of

my husband's work hours and his parents activity level with their

grandchildren, I am always taking the cats to the vet by myself. Because I

had this problem with Miss Kitty and Starbuck needs to go to the vet in

November, I realized that I needed to find a way to make it easier with my

difficulties to get him between the car and buildings. Interestingly, I had

gotten my copy of Doctors and catalog which had cat strollers

featured in there but because I was not sure about being able to afford to

buy theirs soon, I went to eBay and found an assortment of cat strollers

that sold for less than half the price of the ones in the catalog so I

bought one from there and paid about 1/3 what a comparable one would have

cost from the catalog. So, I will be having the cat that is going to the

vet on the leash to get out of the house and into the stroller outside of

the house (no ramps yet but am hoping hubby will have one built by November

vet visit) so I can use the stroller to get the cat into the car (the

stroller is a combination stroller/car seat/carrier) and then use the

stroller from the car to the vet.

I will be going to the doctor on August 19 and seeing about getting a

handicapped placard because I am finding that when I am alone shopping I

have to curtail my shopping especially when the weather is too hot or too

cold if I have to park pretty far away which could be helped if I can make

use of handicapped parking spaces and will also be seeing about making

changes to my medicines to hopefully help with the symptoms I have been

having which have gotten much worse over the last couple of months.
