Guest guest
… first off I don’t want to hear this anymore: if I should not make it. I know, you’re being practical and doing some planning ahead.. but I don’t want to hear about it, lol! I’m mostly kidding you, and I know it will all work out. If you need a good home for one or all of your birds I would happily take them. Goldie would fit right in with my U2 as a perfect bird.. Charmin is one of my angels and the only one I can hand off to someone knowing she will not bite. Most of the others wouldn’t either, but no guarantees. Also makes sense to me about why you’re not asking Mayo more details about pets… I don’t mention my birds anymore either, lol. You do have to take care of you first. Many people just don’t understand what an close part of You your pets are. And as a pet lover we know you are a great person, lol. In the long run, six months isn’t all that bad to quarantine yourself from them although it will seem longer. They’ll miss you but will be ecstatic to see you again. And luckily parrots don’t usually carry disease, so if you can clear them of possibly having parrot fever it would really help. You’re lucky you live in an area where they can be outdoors. I have temp cages outside for mine in the summer, but they come in at night. I had the heat running this morning, can never count on the weather… strange for August though. So I’ll be counting on your good luck and knowing you’ll not need to rehome your birds! I have not asked Mayo about interacting with them while on Tx. I am afraid of the answer and then it will be a part of my record. They did say NO pets for at least 6 months after transplant. The reason is I will have no immune system so every precaution must be taken. This I will follow to the letter! Ack to go through all that and have my sparkling new liver reject would be a crime on my part. I will not come home from ville for at least 6 months. So my husband and family will care for the critters here in Vero Beach until I get home. We will see what Mayo says then. Whatever it is I will do it. When I started sobbing uncontrollably when they told me to get rid of them, in the infectious disease Dotors office, she said if I housed them outside that would be fine Geez you like Macaws eh I'll keep that in mind if I should not make it I will need to find a good home for my Blue and Gold Macaw Goldie. She is my heart bird and just about the bet parrot anyone could want. No screaming for no reason, well trained and never ever bites me or strangers. She is a love muffin! My last request to my husband is to drive my parrots to their new home no matter where they live. Deb what about you? any pets and how did you deal with it while on Tx and after transplant?
