Guest guest
Hi Nic Cairns is a lovely place, I've been twice I loved the Atherton Tablelands, there are many day trips that include this, you can go up through the rainforests, it is just beautiful, most stop in at Kuranda, the train trip back to Cairns is magnificent, there is the chairlift up as well, not good if you have a fear of heights Your friend can go out to The Barrier Reef, there are half day tours to Green Island, or you can go to the Outer Reef which is a full day. My best advice is get to The Queensland Tourist Office pick up some day trips of Cairns and surrounds, There is also Paronella Park, which is a historic homestead, that is south of Cairns. We stayed at a 2 bedroom apartment on Sheridan Ave, the walk to town was about 10 minutes which is more economical than one of the resorts,it depends if she wants cooking facilities, which can lessen costs, some resorts have shuttles into the city, but once been in there, you've seen it all. Hope this helps Regards Rob
Guest guest
HI Nx Rob is so right about Cairns,Beautiful. My hubby's parents live at Clifton Beach which is next to Palm Cove. Best bet is to go for the self contained apartment as food tends to be quite expensive. You can see the trawlers off the coast but seafood costs a small mortgage. There is also night markets in Cairns along the esplanade. The free open pool which is also along the esplanade is fantastic as well. There is also lots of small car hire places but the thing to watch is that you can't take them across the river into the Daintree Rainforest. You have to go across on a barge and the barge operator gets paid a spotting fee so they will get fined when they get back with the car.. Hope your friend has a great time, I am so lucky to have family as it makes it a little cheaper.
