Guest guest
The doctor is right Sue.The longer treatment increases the chance for a better result. In Europe they are doing the longer treatments because of the success rate.I did my treatment in 98-99 and at that time you were treated for 52wks.I have had no viral load since treatment.I found I was sick all the time on treatment and had to drink a can of Ensure to help settle my stomach down.It helped. Jeff did his 45th shot on Friday. After the 48, his PA wants him to try to do 12 more shots, for a total of 60. He says studies have shown there is a slightly better % of staying clear if you can do the longer tx. He will try. He used to get sick right after the shot, that nite, now it seems it takes 3 days, he is ok for the weekend, then on Mon. or Tues. he feels like he has a cold and achey all over. This lasts a day at most. Like today, he is sick, and didn't keep lunch down either. He drinks alot of water, but now he gets the dry mouth alot too. He is almost done, which is real good. We hope that he will be clear, like everyone else does. His labs seem pretty good. He has to take the Hep. B shots again tho. His nurse called from Cleveland, something was showing up about the Hep. B antibodies. The way we understand it was that the donor had been in contact with the Hep.B virus at one time. Jeff is taking Epiver now, and has already done the 3 shots for the Hep. B after the tp. But, they want him to get the shots again. Things have been pretty normal besides that. SueDeb wrote: Sue so good to hear from you again wishing the best for both of you. I know both of you are very busy and with Jeff working long hours and grateful when we hear from both of you and the support you give to members. Keep us updated about you and Jeff. How was Jeff's last vl test and how's he doing on tx and being post transplant ???? We know it's stressful and rough on you too at times. All The Best. Deb Be a better Globetrotter.
