HELP!Hepatitis CSupportGroupForDummies Date: Tuesday, July 15, 2008, 11:02 PM Hi, I'm also geotype 1-a. My first treatment went 48 weeks. Within a month of finishing treatment I was devestated to discover that my viral load had returned. 3 months later I started a 2nd treatment with a new doctor which involved infergen, 1 shot each day along with 6 ribovirin pills . My new doctor didn't want to start counting the 48 weeks until I was non detectable. I achieved this goal after just 10 weeks. In all I went 61 weeks this time. Since I had about 3 weeks worth of infergen at the end of 58 weeks I decided to continue and use it all up. 7 Months after finishing treatment I was still undetectable. I'll see my 1 year post treatment results in November. If I had to I'd do it again in a heartbeat. You do what you have to. Rich [Hepatitis CSupportG roupForDummies] GENO 1 -A Cleared @ 4th Week Doc just said New Advice is to go 72 WEEKS! HELP! Hey guys... just got back from my 6 month check up..all went well--still undectectable! Then doc said she had bad news. I'm like what the hell could this be ! Other than my Neutrophills were in the TANK and I'm back to doing Neupogen shots everyweek now...She said she just got back from a symposium on Hep C --and talk was on geno's 1's...and their take and experience now is even if you cleared early is to now extend treatment for 72 WEEKS! Of course I looked at her with the "deer in the head light look" since treatment has been pure hell for me!So, anybody out there heard about this yet?? She of of course said that we could visit this at a later date. I of course am thinking now I've got to extend treatment... but how am I going to "muster" up the courage to do this since I'm barely making it through just the 48 ..Any advice--info from my great support family would be appreciated. Thanks and love, Dorsey No virus found in this incoming message.Checked by AVG.
